Message To smooth out the incremental stepping of the data points you could use a rolling average of points. Your spread sheet could have a variable for the number of points, by varying this number you could find the sweet spot that takes out the gitters and matians the trends.
Your mention about the area under the curve is intrestering. A spread sheet could take the Hp Vs rpm data and integrate it with time over a rpm band that is indicative of each gear Each gear would have different different rate of rpm change based on final drive ratio and torque. This could provide a mathmatical estimation of the accelleration of a car based on the dyno curve. It might show that a car with flat 400Hp curve could be faster 0 to 100 than say a peaky 500HP car. But the 500Hp car would pull away over 100 because it is sitting in the HP peak longer. If anybody takes the time to do this, slap them and tell then to go do something usefull.
